Orthoflex Breed Fit Recommendations
The following list of breeds, common crossbreeds, types, and list of assumed ancestry is intended to inform the rider of typical characteristics, which may require alternatives to traditional saddle design. One can see from the variety of ancestry, some of which is folklore, the shape and size can vary greatly. The key word is "Flexibility’ in choosing a saddle specification. If you need assistance, by all means call, fax, or e mail.
Orthoflex has patented internal flexible skirts, which conform to the horse’s back topography, very well. The flexible skirts spread the load out over the entire back surface, eliminating pressure points. The key choices when choosing an Orthoflex are:

Regular, Full, or Wide tree (wide at front only)
-
Length of System (Regular system 2, 3, or 8X, or Short systems 6 or 8XS)
-
Whether the relationship of the natural girth position to the saddle seat requires a forward billet (or Latigo D, if western) position
-
Whether the width of the horse, and therefore the tree, require "Comfort bars".

The tree width (front gullet area), system length, Flex-Fit Yoke rigging option, Tapered Load Leveler Pad, and Colt Shims determine the fit for the horse. All other fit options are for the rider’s comfort.
The Comfort Bars are tree bars scalloped out, immediately in front of the cantle, and the bar edge tapered to the angle of the legs coming off the seat. The result is a reduced "spread" feeling for the rider. The four seat construction options, the adjustable stirrup strap position options, the tree cantle shape/size, pommel shape/size, seat twist width, seat rise, and knee/thigh roll options are designed for the rider’s anatomy or style of riding.
